Title: Small Things 2
Rating: G
Pairing: YunJae
Length: Drabble
Summary: Sometimes he was glad Jaejoong made the daily trips because it meant he was never home on the occasions when Yunho’s parents called or stopped by.
-
Yunho waited up for Jaejoong every night. He watched television in the living room or worked in his study until the other man was safely back home. Jaejoong used to tell him not to, that there was no point in both of them being perpetually tired, but that always led to fights about how neither of them should be that tired and how Jaejoong should just wait until the weekends to make the trips to see their baby with Yunho, so Jaejoong stopped saying it. Yunho missed the time he and Jaejoong used to spend together every evening but sometimes he was glad Jaejoong made the daily trips because it meant he was never home on the occasions when Yunho’s parents called or stopped by.
Yunho’s parents didn’t approve of the method he and Jaejoong had taken to have a child. In a world where the options for procreation were near limitless, from surrogacy to modified cloning, his parents still believed in the old school of thought that if a person couldn’t have a child naturally then they did not deserve to have one. They had never accepted Jaejoong because as a man, there was no chance he would ever have a child naturally. When the doctors said Jaejoong’s body was too weak to handle the surgery that would allow him to conceive, Yunho’s parents only took this as confirmation that Jaejoong shouldn’t be a parent.
They had begged Yunho to leave him and the child they called an abomination. The only thing that stopped Yunho from cutting them out of his life was the belief that they would change their minds when he and Jaejoong were finally able to bring their baby home, the belief that his mother at least wouldn’t turn away their child, that he would be able to give his baby a large happy family.
