Title: Small Things 3
Rating: G
Pairing: YunJae
Length: Drabble
Summary: The baby didn’t cry. The ones who came out of the pods never did.
-
Removing a baby from a medical pod wasn’t anything like giving birth. The process was much more sedate, less stressful, and less messy.
Yunho and Jaejoong watched with rapt eyes as a doctor checked all the displays monitoring their baby’s vital signs before pushing a button on the bottom of the pod. Both held their breath in anticipation as the glass that had protected their baby for the last nine months was lifted. It had felt like they’d been waiting years.
The doctor carefully lifted the small form out of the pod and wrapped him in a white blanket. He then gently transferred the baby to Jaejoong’s arms.
Jaejoong let out a small gasp, eyes tracing each small feature on the baby’s face, features he had looked at every day through protective glass.
The baby didn’t cry. The ones who came out of the pods never did. They were still sleeping. It would be a few minutes before the change in environment woke the baby.
But Jaejoong and Yunho didn’t need the baby to be awake to know that he was really there. They could feel his heartbeat, could see the small rise and fall of his chest.
Jaejoong pressed his nose lightly against the baby’s, smiling when the baby’s nose twitched in response.
He was perfect.
